BME provide offshore and onshore surveys to identify the current condition of your helideck and we offer an upgrade solution to ensure you have a future-proof and compliant helideck that meets the relevant Civil Aviation Authority Standards. Our survey engineer will follow a detailed survey report sheet to audit all areas of the deck, markings, friction and obstacles, and report back to you with a detailed plan of action. Based on your requirements, the survey is then turned into a detailed work pack with all the necessary actions including a coatings inspection test plan and all drawings.
BME have a range of Blastrac Machines for removing coatings and applying keys and friction to all styles of helidecks. We have designed our own bespoke methods to deal with raised ridge aluminium decks and we are the only company in the world able to remove all coatings and apply markings to aluminium perforated decks.
To aid your efficiency, we specialise in making sure your deck requires the minimum maintenance going forward. The Blastrac machines are reliable and can comfortably remove heavy screed/aggregate and years of abuse to bring your deck back to a new condition with the correct coating and markings for the style of deck and the region it will work in. The system is 100% recovery and so it allows SIMOPS and removes the need for a habitat and large-scale clean keeping disruption and costs to a minimum.
Our years of experience working on different coating application methods ensure each helideck receives the right coating and that it's applied correctly. All coating manufacturers provide detailed data sheets that allow our specialist team of engineers to create the correct Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) for the application process. On aluminium helidecks there are problems that have been identified by the global aviation authorities: the small, raised ridges on the deck do not accept the aggregate that most coating system use, and they tend to get knocked off in a short time through wear and tear, leaving a deck with low friction.
BME have developed a process that creates the perfect friction on all aluminium helidecks resulting in a markings only, high friction, low maintenance, certified helideck.
As part of our helideck refurbishment service, we complete the process with a friction test which is carried out while the service team are still on the asset. We use the Findlay Irvine Helideck tester using the globally accepted braked wheel technique. Our engineers have been trained by the HCA to carry out this service.
If for any reason when doing the test there are areas of concern, the service team can carry out touch-ups to ensure that when they leave the asset the deck has a 2-year unconditional release.
